Edge One Media Launches GreenGal.org

We are proud to announce the design and launch of GreenGal.org, a green-living lifestyle site for readers looking to incorporate greener habits into their everyday lives.  We designed the logo, built the theme, and configured the blogging system (Wordpress), to provide the solution that GreenGal was looking for.

From GreenGal's site:

Magento Tip #2: Paypal Payments Express

We were having some trouble getting our Paypal Payments Express implemented in a Magento site (1.1.6) and we kept getting the same error:

This transaction is invalid. Please return to the recipient's website
to complete your transaction using their regular checkout flow.

We combed through forums and wikis and, much to our great consternation, nothing was working.  Finally, after what seemed like hours, we found the answer;  it was the PayPal link.  We had semicolons in it where there are supposed to be none.

Magento Tip #1: Profile Exports

Very often, we find slight problems with Magento for which we need to dig for answers.  It seems like these things should be simple one or two sentence explanations, however, due to the lackluster documentation and support, we waste hours searching for answers.

Our first tip is inspired by just such a case.  We were trying to export an inventory list from the export profile but could not find the file when we were done.  If you're having the same trouble, check your server in /var/export directory.

Building a Better Client Base - Five Easy Steps

Normally, we write articles for our clients, however, after fielding many questions from designers who are thinking about trying scary world of freelancing and consulting, we thought we might put together some information for them.  The result is this article which was written for Creativity-Portal.com:

Redesigning Reality-SalesTraining.com

We are proud to relaunch Reality-SalesTraining.com, now with a Content Management System, Shopping Cart, and Video!  We first designed Reality-SalesTraining.com as a simple brochure site in 2004 and, after several years of updates and tweaking, we all decided the company could benefit from a redesign that better highlighted products and services while establishing them as the best sales trainer to do business with in the Portland Metro Area.

Portland's Top 5 Websites - Part 1

A client recently asked us what were the "top 5 sites in Portland."  Interestingly, we didn't really know what to say.  What criteria should we use to make such a decision.  We were tempted to say something like "Have you seen Edge-One.com?"  Or perhaps, "Take a look at our Portfolio."  Thankfully, we suppressed the urge before those sentences actually left our lips.

Transferring over 3500 posts from Powerblogs to Wordpress

Recently we had a client ask us if we could transfer his existing blog at powerblogs.com to his own installation of Wordpress.  The catch was that there were over 3500 posts made over the past two years.    Further adding to the confusion was that there is no straight export of Powerblogs into a readable Wordpress format.  Fortunately, however, there was an export to Movable Type which made the import a multi-step process.

It's called The Refresher Program.

Starting as low as $200/month you can get updates to your website, monthly traffic reports, and email newsletter distributions without ever having to type a single word.
