Facebook and Instagram may have some overlapping features, but overall users interact with them each uniquely. Determining which platform to use for ads if you don’t have the budget for both could be tricky- but it all comes down to your target audience and end goals.

According to Pew Research Center, Instagram is most popular between ages 18-24, while Facebook’s general audience is wider ranging, with 68% being between ages 50 to 64. Both Facebook and Instagram have algorithms and ways to target your ads to specific audiences.

Instagram is a visual platform, so it works great for businesses who have photography or videos to display. Facebook has the capability for users to have discussions, see your events, and more background information and content about your company as a whole.

Facebook’s ad manager is integrated with Instagram, so that makes managing ads on both platforms easy. Testing one for a while and then stopping and testing the other works too!
